The Best Berry Trifle July 3, 2020
Happy Friday, everyone! Since July 4th is this weekend, I thought I would share one of my favorite recipes – my Berry Triffle. This dish is perfect for summer because it’s so refreshing, but even better for the holiday since it can be a July 4th themed dessert! Every time that I have made this, everybody raves about it. It’s so good my mom even requested it for Mother’s day! Yes, it does have blueberries and raspberries in it (which none of my family likes), but they are so good in this dish, that we all eat these berries up!
This recipe is so easy to make, I usually make it the day of but this year I am making it the day before, which is also fine. First, here on the ingredients that you will need to make this.
// Ingredients //
2 containers of strawberries (or 1 large container)
1 container of raspberries
1 container of blueberries
2-3 Tablespoons of sugar
almond extract
16 oz. of cream cheese (room temp.)
2 cups of powdered sugar
1 cup of sour cream
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
1 cup of heaving whipping cream
1 angel food cake
**Note: For the angel food cake, I usually buy a pre-made angel food cake from the bakery section of the grocery store to save time, but you are welcome to bake your own. I tried baking one my first time & it did not go so good. ha!**
// Instructions //
1// Cut your strawberries into either halves or fourths (whichever your prefer.
2// Add all the berries into a bowl & mix with 2-3 tbsp sugar & 2 tsp almond extract. Let it sit. *Note: I let this sit in the fridge so the berries do not get super juicy while I make the other steps*
3// In another bowl, cream together the cream cheese, powdered sugar, sour cream, 2 tsp vanilla extract, & 1 1/4 tsp almond extract.
4// In the same bowl, fold in the heavy whipping cream. (this makes your yummy whipped cream)
5// On a cutting board, cube the angel food cake into small cubes.
6// Now time to start layering your trifle. Grab your dish & start by adding a layer of angel food cake cubes. Add your whipped cream mixture, then add your berry mixture. Repeat these steps until your bowl is filled, but make sure you end with the berries on top so you serve a pretty dish.
**Note: Make sure you keep your trifle in the fridge until serving time. It is best when served cold. This helps to keep your whipped cream nice and fluffy, and your berries full of flavor. I just put saran wrap over my bowl.**
I hope that you guys love & enjoy this recipe as much as we do. I will update this post with better pictures tomorrow, but I wanted to go ahead and this recipe posted for you guys! Let me know if you make it!
XOXO,
Katie
