Baby Jack’s Sweet Little Nursery – The Reveal March 6, 2023
Jack is 8 months old now and I am FINALLY getting around to sharing his sweet little nursery. I have had this on my to do list since he was 2 months old. It was never “just perfect” and complete like I wanted it to be before I shared, so I kept putting it off. But truth be told, his room will always be perfect as it is and a work In progress. It’s not fun if it’s done, right? There are still a couple things that I need to hang and put out, but I couldn’t be more obsessed with how everything came together. It is everything I wanted in a nursery for Jack.
My first thought when I was brainstorming his nursery is that I wanted everything we put in there to be an item that either we could use in his big boy room down the road, or something that I love for myself that can be used somewhere else in our home once he out grows it. We didn’t want to purchase furniture that was necessarily baby specific. We wanted his nursery to be cozy, sweet, boy style, but not tooo baby boy (if that makes sense, ha!). I wanted to incorporate baby blues, green, and his daddy’s love of hunting & cowboy boots.
We had so much fun sourcing everything for his nursery. Trust me, there was soooo much that went into it and so many deals we came across that I just had to share all the fun!
I will be linking everything that I can at the end!
One of the most fun (and most tedious) parts of putting this nursery together were the DIY’s. Above his crib is a baby swaddle that I loved, but I felt it was too pretty to actually use. We DIY’d an acrylic floating frame and hung it as art (see this blog post on how we did it). We also DIY’d his dresser. I had fallen in love with a dresser that was over $3,000 and there was absolutely no way I could justify that. So we did the research and made our own version (a blog post on this to come soon). The third semi-DIY that we did was the sofa. My great-grandmother had this sofa in her home and although it had the most horribly old fabric, it had the most precious little frame to it. We went fabric shopping and picked out the prettiest baby blue velvet fabric + fringe to around the bottom. We figured out the design I wanted and then we had it re-done. Obsessed is an understatement! It adds the perfect level of coziness to his nursery.
Our floors in our home are concrete, so I knew I needed something comfortable in his nursery on the floor. To avoid buying an extremely large rug, we went to a local carpet shop, picked out the antelope carpet, then had them cut it to the size of the room, and bound the edges. We essentially just made our own large rug, but it was MUCH more affordable this way. I have some similar ones linked below since ours is technically carpet.
For privacy, we used these gold French return curtain rods but added these acrylic drape clips. This adds the sweetest touch and helps to make his room look bigger. We also put up the sweetest baby blue velvet black out curtains. They are so pretty!
Now for artwork. I came across Chelsea McShane art on Instagram and she has THE sweetest artwork. I got Jack the deer and turkey prints since that is KP’s favorite hunting seasons and hung them in these burlwood frames. I also have a Catherine Cartie watercolor boot print that needs to be hung, but we will get to it one of these days. I still need to order the frame for it! The mirror above the dresser is an Anthropologie mirror dupe that was only $80. It was a major score!
I wanted somewhere sweet & fun to put all his books and display some sentimental things. When I came across these shelves, I knew they were exactly what I wanted. We absolutely love them!
His swivel glider and extra large baskets came home with us from Texas and those were two really fun, spur-of-the-moment finds. The green velvet swivel glider is from Ballard Designs. When we went in their store in Fort Worth, they had this small floor model sale going on and it was super discounted. So my sweet husband found a way to fit it in our car. The extra large basket is a basket I always had my eye on at Pottery Barn, but never purchased because it is expensive for being just a basket. BUT, we stumbled upon it at the Pottery Barn Outlet Store in Texas and well… we had to bring it home too. Truth be told, this basket is so freaking good, I 1000% will be purchasing another one full price soon for the living room.
It. Is. That. Good.
I am just obsessed with his nursery and couldn’t imagine a more perfect space for Jack. Here is the link to everything that is linkable & to all the decor and furniture. Several of the items in his room are from small businesses – which I love supporting – but am unable to link to!
